WAP at AWP--March 26-29, 2025
Coming to AWP 2025 in Los Angeles? Look for us in the Bookfair at booth #1041. We'll have book signings for recently published books and, of course, books for sale. Mostly, we just want to see you, so please come by and say hi!
WAP at AWP—March 8-11, 2023
Wandering Aengus Press and its imprint, Trail to Table Press, attended the AWP, Association of Writers and Writing Programs, conference in Seattle. Many of our authors signed books and our editors enjoyed meeting hundreds of writers at the conference Bookfair.
Wandering Words & Wild Euphonia—March 9, 2023
Authors and editors from Wandering Aengus Press read at Seattle's historic Sorrento Hotel accompanied by musical virtuoso Xitlalic. Featuring Marcia Aldrich, Lucy Ferris, Gail Folkins, Jessica Gigot, Andrew C. Gottlieb, Steven Harvey, Amanda Hawkings, Holly J. Hughes, Jed Myers, Julie Riddle, Tina Schumann, Jan Shoemaker, Ana Maria Spagna, Alina Ștefănescu, and Tarn Wilson, and hosted by Jill McCabe Johnson.
Anderson Island Writing Retreat—August 26-28, 2022
Wandering Aengus Press editors Gail Folkins and Jill McCabe Johnson are this year's featured writers at the Anderson Island Writing Retreat, August 26-28. With the theme of "A Change of Scenery," writers will renew their creativity at the historic Johnson Farm on Anderson Island in South Puget Sound. A series of writing prompts and activities with both facilitators will give participants the opportunity to draft several new works. The weekend retreat begins at 2:00 pm Friday and continues through Sunday at Noon and includes dinners on both Friday and Saturday, plus a reading to share your work on Saturday night. It's going to be a blast! Registration is $225 through Anderson Island Arts. Join us!
Orcas Island List Fest—June 3-4, 2022
Wandering Aengus and Trail to Table will have a happy presence as the Orcas Island Lit Fest returns June 3-4, 2022. Press authors Heather Durham, Jessica Gigot, and Michael Schmeltzer, plus editors Gail Folkins and Jill McCabe Johnson are all participating in this year's programs, readings, and other happenings. The press will also have a table in the Book Fair, where we hope to meet with writers and hear about their latest works. OILF has a special place in our hearts because the press' first book came about due, in part, to a serendipitous meeting in the Book Fair the first year of the festival. Who knows? Maybe we'll meet our next great writer there this year!

World Premiere of Spectral Spirits Based on Poetry from Passings
The virtuosic Philadelphia-based chorus, The Crossing (Donald Nally, conductor) has commissioned Minneapolis composer Edie Hill to compose a new extended work for chorus based on the poetry of Holly J. Hughes. The title for the new work is "Spectral Spirits." Four poems from Passings form the basis for the choral work. The world premiere will be performed December 20th followed by several other performances in The Crossing @ Christmas 2019 concert series in Philadelphia and New York. David Lang's "the little match girl passion" will also be performed.
The full schedule of performances can be found here.
